Role Overview & Strategic Support
The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP), established in 1841, is seeking an Office Manager for the Dean’s Administration. This role serves as the professional face of the Dean’s Suite, providing comprehensive administrative, operational, and event-management support. You will ensure the efficient functioning of the office while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and discretion for senior leadership.
Core Responsibilities & Operations

Front Office Engagement: Serving as the primary representative for the Dean’s Office, greeting visitors, and acting as a high-level liaison with internal departments and outside agencies.

Executive Support: Managing complex calendars, coordinating travel, and preparing essential documents for the Dean and School leadership.

Event Coordination: Leading the planning and execution of retreats, ceremonies, faculty/staff appreciation events, and leadership meetings that advance the School’s strategic priorities.

Operational Oversight: Ensuring the Dean’s Suite reflects professional standards and managing general office workflows to support visibility and efficiency.
Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in administrative or business operations. Experience supporting senior leadership in higher education is strongly preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in applicable technology systems, excellent verbal/written communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Substitution: Related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis (30 credits = 1 year).
