Role Overview & Strategic Purchasing

Julius Silvert, Inc is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Produce Buyer to join our fast-paced procurement team. This role is designed for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in broad-line perishable food purchasing. You will be responsible for ensuring the steady flow of high-quality produce while managing vendor relationships and negotiating terms that support our operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities & Negotiation

• Supplier Negotiation: Leading negotiations with suppliers regarding forecasting, availability, pricing, and freight (including international logistics).

• Vendor Relations: Building and maintaining robust, long-term relationships with a diverse network of food vendors.

• Cross-Functional Planning: Coordinating with internal departments to ensure seamless execution of purchasing functions and inventory management.

• Supply Chain Resolution: Managing and resolving product supply issues and coverage gaps within the supply chain to prevent operational delays.

• Data Management: Managing the setup of new items and vendor information within company software, ensuring all pricing and documentation are accurate.

Professional Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in purchasing, specifically focusing on perishable foods or broad-line distribution.

• Skills: Strong negotiating skills, extraordinary follow-up abilities, and the capacity to work systematically in a high-energy environment.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in managing complex spreadsheets and procurement software systems.

• Attributes: A polished professional with a detail-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive under pressure.
