Perkins Eastman is a global architectural firm guided by the ethos “Human by Design.” We operate as an integrated practice across 24 global studios and 18 practice areas, focusing on sustainable and resilient environments. We are seeking a visionary Principal to lead our Science and Technology practice on the West Coast, driving innovation in complex facility design for both university and private sectors.

Core Leadership Responsibilities

• Strategic Design: Leading the planning and design of sophisticated science and technology facilities, ensuring they push technical boundaries and meet industry standards.

• Business Development: Identifying new market opportunities and expanding the firm’s footprint within the life sciences, biotech, and pharmaceutical sectors on the West Coast.

• Stakeholder Collaboration: Working with diverse stakeholders to translate complex technology requirements into customized, high-performance architectural solutions.

• Innovation & Mentorship: Staying ahead of global design trends to keep the practice at the forefront of innovation while mentoring team members to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in the science and technology sector with a proven track record in planning, business development, and strategic leadership.

• Professional Standing: Must be a Registered Architect with a fundamental understanding of sustainable design.

• Certifications: LEED, WELL, or CPHD accreditations are highly desirable.

Compensation and Hybrid Policy

• Salary Range: $165,000 to $185,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications.

• Work Style: Full-time position based in Northern or Southern California, following a hybrid model (4 days in-studio, 1 day remote).
